When this process starts, the dogs know what's coming next and they almost become unmanageable. They are going absolutely wild. They have their harnesses on, but they are still chained up. They all know that they are about to be placed on that sled lead and they are gonna get to run, run, run! Their excitement and impatience makes the situation even more volatile than before.

It is now a race with time to get each of them into his or her appointed place in front of a sled. Each of us goes to the line and detaches a dog from the line. Jeff tells us which position in front of which sled our dog is to be attached. We hold our dogs by the collar as it bounds toward a sled trying its best to escape our grasp.
