The trip began with an early morning flight (Friday) from Raleigh to Ontario. Three of us from Raleigh [Jay, Terri, Courtney] met up with three others from DC [Jon, Kerri, Dean]. We drove for 4 hours north of Ontario to a small town called Sudbury where we met our tour guides Jeff and Duncan and 23 Siberian Huskies.
Before we left Sudbury, we stopped by the local winter outfitters and purchased ourselves a pair of special boots that would see us through the deep snow and slush ahead. Great quote--"We tried to
rent the Disney movie "Iron Will" about dogsledding, which is
actually supposed to be pretty good, but the Blockbuster store
near us pulled it off the shelf because "it wasn't moving." (physically
off the shelf, I take it, rather than emotionally)." |
