We finally made it to sleep that night, but more than once were awakened by the dogs (chained just behind our cabins) howling several rousing choruses of what could be perceived as a moonlight serenade.

 

The serenades were interesting in that they would always start out with one dog singing a solo to the moon. The solo was soon a trio, then quartet, and eventually the whole choir chimed in for a grand finale. Then silence. Almost as if they were waiting for our applause so that they could do their encore.
